Why Goat Cheese?

The first reason for selecting Haystack's Goat Cheese is its great flavor! Aditionally, there are many health benefits to those who want to watch their fat intake and to those who may have allergies to cow's milk.

Great Taste
Haystack Mountain Goat Dairy has won national awards for its creamy, clean, citrusy and great tasting goat cheese. Its mild flavor is a direct result of the quality and variety of the Haystack goat herd, and the fine instinct and attention to detail of Haystack's Master Cheesemaker.

Vegetable Rennet
Our cheeses are all natural, hand crafted from sweet, high quality goat's milk, using the finest cheese cultures and vegetable rennet with traditional artisan cheese-making techniques. There are no preservatives. Enjoy!

Easily Digested
For years, people with sensitive stomachs have opted for goat milk products. The fats in goat cheese are smaller with short-chain fatty acids and produce a softer curd. Their small size makes them easier to break down and digest than the larger, long-chain fatty acids of cow's cheese. The goat cheese has the added benefit of not containing bovine growth hormones.

Nutritional Value
When compared to cow milk products like cheddar and cream cheeses, our Haystack Mountain Goat Cheese is lower in fat, calories and cholesterol. For example, cream cheese has 9.9 grams of fat per ounce, and cheddar cheese has 9.4 grams. But Haystack Mountain's Boulder Chèvre has a low 5.5 grams of fat. In addition to these benefits, goat cheese has greater quantities of potassium, vitamin A, thiamin, niacin and is rich in protein.
